Before Midnight Blood Prince Series Book 1 eBook Jennifer Blackstream
Cinderella Fan Fic with a werewolf twist. The book is a blend of fantasy and mythological stories as it starts out with five princes from different paranormal groups being pulled toward the world tree by a mythological female. I could tell the author reads a lot as I saw similarities between this book and other fantasy romances, especially Kresley Cole, as the book was not dealing with just one type of paranormal being but varied types. Even the vampire kingdom name was similar to that of Cole's.I really like the book and I would classify it as historical paranormal romance, as the characters mode of transportation is horse and wagon. I do bow to the author being masters of their world building, but when writing in this genre I wish the author had not used modern colloquialisms and words, it detracted from the story setting.
I also would have liked the secondary characters to have been more fleshed out, as this would have pushed up my rating. I would have liked to have had interaction between the step sisters and Loupe. Also I liked the plot twist, of a werewolf being blessed by the witch; but the backstory that was revealed did not sync with the very details first put forth in the book. I think the author should invest in a continuity editor/reader to push her to bring out her best story.

This endearing fast moving, loving paranormal read gets 4 STARS. It is the 1st book carved out of an action filled historical fairytale world full of sexy paranormal Princes, each with his own kingdom starting with the werewolf, including the vampire, demon, angel, and a god. A wonderful start to a series of adult fairy tales. Cinderella takes on a new twist with the story revolving around lycanthropes (full blooded wolf shifter) and loup garou (werewolf).
Prince Etienne is a lycanthrope who is about to lose his wolf thanks to the "blessing" of a witch and the only thing that will help is the bite/scratch from a loup garou. Loupe is a loup garou and Cinderella in this story. She meets Etienne while bathing in a lake surrounded by an adult wolf and wolf pups who she is looking after after her evil stepmother (illegally) killed the pups mother. They are immediately attracted to one another but at first try to ignore the attraction. Loupe afraid because she will never be normal and Etienne because his main goal is to reverse the "blessing".
What follows is a not so ordinary Cinderella story with a bit of vengeance at the end. Smooth, fast read told from a dual point of view (with the "storyteller's" pov added in at the beginning and end). As the book ends, it finishes off with a slight cliffhanger sparking interest in the new couple to come.
This, honestly, has to be my favorite retelling of the classic Cinderella story. The story doesn’t start off right away as the Cinderella story, you’ll actually get to meet the other guys from the next stories which I thought was a great idea. Give the readers an idea of what’s to come. All I’m going to tell you is that this is the Cinderella story with werewolves.
When I saw this on and saw that it was a retelling of the Cinderella story, I admit, I judged it a bit. I thought it was going to be like the others I’ve read and this reader will gladly admit that she was wrong. It was, at the risk of sounding cliché, magical. I felt like the werewolf element gave this story, which has been retold over and over again, a special little something and that it was a stroke of genius.
You’ll never guess how the fairy godmother is portrayed and how the shoe gets put into the story but I can guarantee that you will be shocked; especially the step-mother and step-sisters. I will tell you, it has more of the Grimm feel to it than a Disney feel.
This book was written so well and kept such a strong hold on my attention that I could not put it down and I finished it the same day I started it. I can’t wait to start on the second book, which is the retelling of Snow White, but with vampires. Five stars and I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
A new author for me and the price of the book well no price really it was free, so no worries right? I mean seriously win-win.
Oh my stars I was absolutely blown away. Win-win and bonus!!!
It starts off with the prologue and then we get the first prince's story.
Loved him as a hero but oh man the heroine Loupe.....wow!! She's beautiful with a heart of gold but also she can be feisty.
Loved the Cinderella take to this novel. Loupe cried, I cried, she smiled I smiled.
Action, suspense, some drama, laughter, not to much by the way of sexy times but that's ok cause when they did have their sexy time...*sigh* sexual tensions were high before and broke free.
A great book and I am so looking forward to the next in this series. I already downloaded it.....*wink*
