I just purchased two copies of this book for my granddaughters who are age 2 and 6. Although they are now too young to appreciate it, I will give them this on their 10th birthdays in hope that it will inspire their passion for reading as it did for me 45 years ago. It is still my favorite book and I am thrilled that it has been reissued.
Wonderful stepping back in Elizabethan time travel! Love it!!
I love it. It is brilliant, accurate, sensitively done. I am a writer of books myself, and I read 50 to 60 books a year.
I now count it among my very favorites.

A wonderful young adult novel that continually grabs the attention of the reader.
I first read this when I was in jr high, back in 1972-73. Checked it out of the library at school, my mother and I both read it and loved it. Fast forward a few years, and tried to find it to read again. Could not remember the name of the author or the book. Just remembered the kid singing "Greensleeves". Internet comes around and I do the search and local a copy. Re read it and still think it is one of the best stories I've ever read. The author weaves the story in such a way that you really care for the characters. If you enjoy historical fiction, Mary Queen of Scots and the song Greensleeves you will like this book.
This was a favorite book of mine when I was younger. It is as good as I remembered; suspenseful and whimsical. A charming tale of time travel with historical characters in the cast.
